Tutorial#1 - How to create a GIF in Photoshop

In this tutorial, we will explain how to create an animated Text using animation effect in Photoshop. We just use the effect of Fade In and Fade Out of each Text and let the animation to play forever.

Let's get started...!!!

Step 1

Create a New Document of 1024 x 300 pixels with 72 pixels Resolution.

Step 2

Set the foreground color as per your wish. Here we use Blue color (#336699) and fill the Background layer by using shortcut (Alt+Backspace).

Step 3

Create a new Text layer by pressing 'T' on keyboard and type your words. Here we created 3 Text layers as Graphic Design, Web Design & SEO which we going to animate this 3 text.

Step 4

Now it's time to animate your text on Photoshop. Click on Window button from menu bar and select Animation which is shown below.

Step 5

Make sure that all the 3 text layers should be invisible except the background layer as the animation will start from Fade in effect. Now you can see a frame in animation pane. Set the frame to 0.1second as you can click on the Drop down button as shown below.

Step 6

Create a New Frame from the bottom of the Animation Pane or Click on the option button on the top of Animation Pane and select New Frame. Now select second frame and set the first text layer (Graphic Design) to Visible. We have highlighted a red rounded mark respectively.

Step 7

Now it's time to give Fade in effect to the frames. Here, select 2 frames by using shift Key and click on Tween button which is mentioned below or select the option from Animation Pane and select Tween.We have added 10 more frames between 2 previous frames and total we have 12 frames for 1.2 seconds.

Make sure you use the following values and press OK.

Step 8

After giving Fade In effect, now we going to apply Fade out effect. So you don't need to do the again for fade out. It's to simple, now select all the 12 frames by using Shift key and go to Option from Animation Pane and select Copy Frames.

Step 9

Select the last layer (i.e. 12th layer) and again go to Option from Animation Pane and select Paste Frames.

Here, it will prompt to select the paste method, we will apply the copied layer after the selection, so select Paste After Selection and finally click on OK.

Step 10

Once you completed with pasting, select the same copied frames from 13 to 24 and go to Option and select Reverse Frame. Now try to play the animation in which you can see your text will start from Fade in to Fade out.

Till here, you are successfully completed to apply animation effect to your text.

Step 11

Hope you got 24 frames for a Text layer, so we have to make another 24 frames for second Text layer. Click on the last frame and Create a new frame (i.e. 25th frame). On this frame invisible the first Text layer and make visible to second Text Layer (Web Design).

Step 12

Select the second last and the last frame to apply Tween. For this, refer back to Step 7 and continue the same unless you complete all the Text Layers.

Step 13

Finally, we have 72 frames for 3 Text layers (24x3).

To save this animation in GIF format, go to File menu and select Save for Web & Devices... (Alt+Shift+Ctrl+S) and make sure the changes which is highlighted in red rounded mark.

1. Select Original tab.

2. Set Forever for Looping Option.

3. Click on Save button.
